I found some cleaner recipes today, I thought I would share. If anyone else has any, please add!
All-purpose cleaner:
8 drops of antimicrobial pine essential oil (pinus sylvestris)
1/2 tsp liquid castille soap
1/2 tsp distilled white vinegar
16 oz warm water
mix in a spritzer bottle
Ant repellent:
Peppermint essential oil on a cotton ball. Place where ever you've seen ants. Or make a spray by mixing 8 oz water with 1 tsp of peppermint. Spritz in antsy places.
Drain cleaner:
Pour 1/2 cup of white vinegar followed by a handful of baking soda down the drain. Let sit for at least one hour then run hot water.
Mold and mildew remover:
In a 16 oz spray bottle, mix 2 tbsp borax, 4 tbsp apple cider vinegar, and 1/2 tsp of eucalyptus and lavender essential oils. Shake, fill with water, shake again.
THE RESPONSES:
My favorite tip for deoderizing a stinky garbage disposal and making the whole kitchen smell nice is to toss in a few lemons, grind partially and leave a bit, grind the rest of the way later.
I am really rethinking what is in my utility closet. A friend who has been fighting breast cancer through non-traditional means is really pushing peroxide as the cleaner of choice over bleach or ammonia in the kitchen and bathroom. So far I have had success with it.
Thanks! I used the one for mold and mildew today in my bathrooms. I didn't have everything for your version so I changed it a little and it worked great. Thanks alot!!! Here is how I made mine.
Mold and Mildew
2 tbsp borax
2 tbsp washing soda
1/2 cup vinegar
1 tsp castille soap
Mixed all in a 12oz spray bottle and filled with water, shake well, spray surface thoroughly, let dry for one hour, scrub clean.
Here's what I use in the bathroom. Scouring Cleanser Sprinkle sinks with borax and washing soda scour with a cut lemon Grind lemons in garbage disposal (after bathroom use) to freshen the smell of the kitchen.
