I agree about freezing bananas. My usual smoothie is 1 cup of oj, 1 frozen banana, and 1 cup of frozen fruit (usually strawberries). Yummy! It's as good as ice cream.
Our morning smoothie: 2 cups soymilk, 4 oz tofu(firm), 1 cup frozen blueberries, 1 frozen banana, 8 organic strawberries, YUMMY!!!
We love smoothies!..........(and an obvious idea)..I freeze leftover smoothies in popsicle molds for a healthy snack.
This one is good: I developed it for the deli at our co-op a few years ago- 1 cup pineapple chunks, 3 TBS frozen peach-mango juice concentrate (Cascadian farms organic), 1/2 cup orange juice, 1/2 frozen banana, cut into chunks a few ice cubes. Whir it up in the blender- yum! We call it "Jamaican me thirsty" lol
I love to make smoothies too and usually just dump some of whatever I have in the blender...I will use a combination of two frozen fruits-usually blueberries, peaches, strawberries, bananas-yogurt, soy or rice milk, and wheat germ or protein powder and blend. I like frozen fruits because I like the consistency to be thick, like a Frosty.
Mine are wierd
but yummy and I feel energized after eating one. Nancy's full fat plain
yogurt (you have to live in the pacNW to appreciate how AWESOME Nancy's
yogurt is
),
frozen blueberries, frozen banana, spirulina powder, nutritional yeast,
shaklee protein powder, and a little bit of honey. MMMM....
